Days/Evenings/Nights, 8 and 12 hour shifts with overnight, weekends and statutory holidays
*the Crisis program is a 24hr service which runs 7 days a week
(Subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
" Masters degree in Social Work and/or Baccalaureate of Nursing degree or a Master's degree in Counseling/Psychology with a combination of relevant experience in Mental Health and Addictions
" Registration with a regulated health profession or must be working towards Psychotherapy designation as per requirements of the College of Psychotherapists with completion by July 1, 2014.
" Minimum of 3 years recent, related experience in Crisis Intervention in the fields of Mental Health and Addictions
" Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of Best Practice guidelines in Crisis Intervention and Crisis theory
" Excellent assessment and counseling skills
" Demonstrated ability to work with and advocate for individuals with severe and persistent Mental Illness.
" Demonstrated ability to develop care plans for those in crisis
" Demonstrated ability to develop and foster community linkages and resources
" Demonstrated commitment to providing quality customer service in dealing with the public (patients and families) as well as various clinical professionals
" Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
" Self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
" Working knowledge of computers
" Excellent attendance record
To provide immediate assessment and intervention for individuals who present to the Emergency Department in
Crisis due to symptoms associated with a psychiatric problem and/or addiction, and/or psycho-social problem(s). To
work collaboratively with Hospital colleagues in a fast paced environment.
