Job Description
POSITION: CUPE
Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) - Two (2) Casual

DEPARTMENT/CAMPUS:
Corporate PT & OT

POSTING NUMBER: 141218/141219

HOURS: Saturdays & occasional weekdays
(Subject to change in accordance with Operational Requirements)

QUALIFICATIONS:
*Two Year Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist Assistant Certification from a recognized Canadian Community College (required to have dual training as an OTA & PTA)
*Preference will be given to candidates with 2-years recent experience in adult physical medicine, including General Medicine, Rehab & Geriatrics
*Ability to speak, read & write the English language
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
*Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with excellent time management and organizational skills required
*Demonstrated ability to prioritize responsibilities and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
*Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
*Physical ability to do job duties as assigned; demonstrated knowledge of body mechanics to prevent musculoskeletal injuries
*Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
*Proven attendance and work record
*Must be willing to work at all hospital sites

JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the Corporate Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy Departments, you will carry out assigned tasks under the direction of the physiotherapists and occupational therapists and provide a variety of patient support services. These may include administrative tasks, stocking supplies, equipment inventory and cleaning/maintenance, and other tasks as assigned. You will work with the patients/families and team to actively help rehabilitate each patient to achieve his/her maximum functional level through planned therapeutic programs. OTA/PTAs are expected to participate in patient care team meetings, discipline-specific meetings, special projects as assigned, and supervision of students.
