POSITION: NON-UNION
Addiction Crisis Worker - One (1) Casual

DEPARTMENT/CAMPUS:
Mental Health and Addictions - Withdrawal Management Centre - William Osler Health System

POSTING NUMBER:

HOURS:
Days, Evening, Nights - 8 hours each shift

QUALIFICATIONS:
" Three years experience in the addiction field
" A two year Community College Diploma in Health or Social Services with an addiction concentration, and/or
complimented by other recognized academic credentials in addiction studies
" A combination of academic credentials and relevant experience will be considered
" Demonstrated screening and assessment skills regarding appropriateness of non-medical withdrawal services
" Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the effects of withdrawal from alcohol and other substances
" Current C.P.R./First Aid certification
" Core Knowledge and Skills for Withdrawal Management training required within the first year of employment
" Knowledge of the substance abuse treatment system in Ontario
" Knowledge of gambling treatment is an asset
" Knowledge of second language(s) and ethno-cultural diversity issues is an asset
" Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with other agencies and/or organizations
" Demonstrated verbal, written and computer skills
" Excellent attendance and punctuality
" May be required to travel
" Basic Computer Skills


JOB SUMMARY:
Key clinical responsibilities include screening, intake/observation, assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, counseling, discharge planning, consultation and education. Other duties include preparation of meals, attending monthly staff meetings and other facility-related duties as assigned. Duties will be carried out in accordance with safety standards.
