HOURS: Days, Monday to Friday
The Corporate Strategy Development Office (SDO), reporting to the VP Public Affairs and Corporate Strategy, helps to shape and communicate Osler's corporate strategies to ensure alignment across the organization. The SDO played a key role in facilitating the creation of Osler's new Strategic Plan, which was publicly launched in June 2013.
The SDO is currently recruiting a Communications Specialist to primarily support the implementation of the exciting provincial Health Links initiative.
The five Health Links of the Central West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) are taking a collaborative approach to implementation, with the creation of a Secretariat to enable a coordinated approach across the LHIN. Housed at Osler, the Secretariat will support all five Health Links Leads through the first year of implementation. The Secretariat is accountable to the Central West LHIN Health Links Steering Committee, chaired by the CEO of the Central West LHIN ( The Steering Committee is comprised of local health, community and social support service providers, including the Health Link lead agencies: Central West Community Care Access Centre (, Headwaters Healthcare Centre (, and Osler (
o Contribute to the development and execution of new strategies, approaches and plans supporting Health Links implementation and other corporate strategic initiatives
o Identify and anticipate the needs of stakeholders, building relationships with partners (e.g., Health Link Leads, lead agencies, and collaborating organizations)
o Consult with stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop communication strategies, plans and success metrics
o Develop and execute communication initiatives from concept to execution using consistent processes, templates and tools, working with communications leads at partner organizations
o Guide the creation of communication materials based on best practice, utilizing multiple channels and mediums (digital media, brochures, presentations, newsletters, surveys, posters etc.)
o Identify specific or unique communication delivery channels needed for client groups and champion communication solutions
o Proactively contribute content to be leveraged across local partner organizations
o Monitor and measure effectiveness of communication tactics, apply learning to planning processes and adjust approaches as needed to demonstrate return on communication investment
o Ensure all communications are focused on achieving strategic Health Links objectives, using appropriate tone and content

o Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or similar discipline
o Minimum five years related work experience in a health care or hospital environment in strategic communications
o Demonstrated customer service orientation with exceptional relationship building abilities
o Proven track record of success in developing and implementing creative and effective external and internal communications programs that reach diverse audiences
o Excellent oral and written communications skills including writing, editing and proofreading
o Knowledge of marketing and public relations principles
o Ability and flexibility to manage multiple and changing deadlines with solid project management skills
o Team player, able to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization and build partnerships with cross-functional teams spanning multiple organizations
o Excellent organizational, planning, influence and follow-up skills
o Self-starter, independent and takes initiative
o Strategic thinking combined with excellent attention to detail in executing programs
o Experience working with and/or understanding of content management systems, web design and social media
o Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite

Travel Requirements: Occasional local travel required across the Central West LHIN
