POSITION:
Claims Specialist - One Full Time ( 1.0 FTE)-Risk Management

DEPARTMENT/CAMPUS:
Legal & Risk - Brampton Civic Hospital

POSTING NUMBER: 130968

HOURS:
Currently 8 hour Days
(Subject to change in accordance with the operational requirements)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
" Coordinates risk management activities across the hospital including corporate risk/liability
" Provides executive support to the Director Risk in a timely and efficient manner
" Maintains accurate policy and procedural manuals for the department
" First point of contact when legal documents are served and act as a conduit to facilitate timely responses to risk management questions from all levels of staff
" Participates in department and hospital wide teams and special committees, continuously monitoring and actively looking for opportunities to improve risk outcomes
" Gather and assess information on needed changes to existing programs and services
" Communicates with director of Risk and all staff on all significant department/hospital information maintaining clear, concise and accurate records
" Maintains awareness of the corporate climate by pursuing legal requests for patient records identifying potential hospital litigation
" Supports the continuous development, implementation and improvement of the risk management framework
" Assist in coordinating responses required to external agencies, bodies or authorities related to risk exposures or external recommendations/requirements
" Reviews, tracks and analyzes claims liability data to identify trends and areas of concern, initiating follow-up actions when required
" Supports with other legal matters on an as required basis.

QUALIFICATIONS
" University bachelor's degree in a related discipline
" Healthcare services sector experience preferred
" Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant governance, assurance and risk management standards, risk management principles, tools and methods
" Working knowledge of relevant regulatory and governance environment, compliance requirements, dynamics operations and stakeholders
" Systems thinker and effective ability to analyze report and communicate at all levels
" Proven ability in strategic, analytical and critical thinking and problem solving
" Highly motivated and enthusiastic team player
" Flexible versatile and resilient
" Microsoft Office skills required
