Facilities Supervisor - One (1) Full-Time
Plant Maintenance - Etobicoke General Hospital
Primarily Days, with emergency off shifts coordination/response required

Osler is seeking a confident, dynamic and results oriented leader to supervise the day to day operations of the Engineering and Maintenance Group and provide high quality facility services at the Etobicoke General Hospital site. Reporting to the Manager of Plant Operations, the Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the planning, coordination and direct supervision of the engineering and maintenance staff and contracted services in the execution of facility operations & maintenance and minor projects. The supervisor will ensure all operations and procedures are in compliance with the appropriate legislation, health and safety protocols, infection control practices, asbestos management requirements, energy efficiency and industry best practices The supervisor will also coordinate facilities support for capital redevelopment projects. " Plans, coordinates and supervises staff and external contractors in execution of all day-to-day core facility operations including operation of all building systems, grounds maintenance, routine and emergency work orders, preventive maintenance and inspections, minor renovations, medical gases, grounds and utility systems and steam producing equipment.
" Monitors energy consumption and operational practices, assesses impact and makes recommendations on prospective energy conservation measures.
" Reviews and ensures that all work is carried out in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, policies, standards, guidelines, preventive maintenance schedules and budgets; responsible for conducting monthly fire drills, and for training of staff in fire panel and other procedures as needed
" Ensures department WHMIS is updated regularly and supports the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee at Etobicoke General Hospital.
" Coordinates and ensures 24 hour emergency on-call service is provided for the total management and support required in the event of an emergency or building system failure
" Participates in the Human Resource planning and evaluation process including recruitment, staff training, performance appraisals and attendance management.
" Supports the development of departmental long range plans, budgets, staffing needs and process improvements.
" Supports a culture of performance excellence including performance monitoring and mentorship.
" Completion of a university/college program in Building Systems Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Engineering or related discipline: equivalent combination of education, skilled trade certification and previous Healthcare experience
(Mechanical or Electrical background preferred)
" Minimum 5 years previous supervisory/management experience in maintenance and/or plant operations in a Healthcare facility required.
" Computer literacy in Computer Maintenance Management Systems, Building Automation Systems, Fire Systems, MS Word, Excel required.
" Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of maintaining multiple communication channels.
" Ability to implement sustainable/beneficial change.
" Project management experience/skillset an asset.
" Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent activities and manage deadlines.
" Hold a valid G class drivers license and willingness to travel to multiple sites.
