POSITION: Non-Union
Registered Respiratory Therapist - One (1) Full Time

DEPARTMENT/CAMPUS:
Anaesthesia Support - Brampton Civic Hospital

Currently, Days 8hrs
(Subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

QUALIFICATIONS:
" Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
" Member in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
" Current BCLS and ACLS certification
" Working knowledge of anaesthesia and cardio-respiratory equipment including all relevant policies, procedures and medical directives required
" Knowledge of operating room etiquette
" Knowledge of surgical safety checklist
" Member of C.S.R.T. and R.T.S.O. preferred
" Current PALS certification recommended
" Current certification in Adult Intubation and Adult Radial Arterial Line insertion
" Actively participates in continuing education
" Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and supportively in a multidisciplinary team
" Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills
" Demonstrated clinical expertise, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
" Excellent work performance and attendance record

JOB SUMMARY:
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
" Consulting as a resource to the surgical services patient care team, the department of Anaesthesia and the Anaesthesia Assistant regarding cardio-respiratory/anaesthesia related technical and/or clinical issues
" Respiratory assessment of the adult and paediatric patient
" Consulting with other members of the inter-disciplinary health care team in devising a plan of care
" Utilizing evidence-based guidelines in practice of Respiratory Therapy/Anaesthesia Support
" Maintain, set up and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment
" Provide ongoing education to new, existing staff and clinical students
" Report workload measures and participate in quality assurance activities
" Liaise with clients as necessary
" Management of anaesthesia supplies and equipment including ordering
" Liaise with Medical Devices Reprocessing department
" Assist with and/or perform intubations/LMA insertions
" Assist with and/or perform insertion of arterial and intravenous lines
" Assist with regional anaesthesia with/without ultrasound guidance
" Provide expertise in airway management, initiation and application and oxygen therapy and adjuncts
